Shopping
Brechfa Community Stores is a village shop in the centre of the village which provides a wide range of the basics. It is manned by volunteers and is open from 7 until 6 weekdays and saturday mornings.
There is a range of high street stores and supermarkets in Carmarthen.
The nearest petrol station is at White Mill, on the A40 towards Carmarthen, aproximately 8 miles from Gilfach Wen.

Guests at Gilfach Wen Barn will pass this public house on the way from the south. It is not practical to walk to this pub and resturant from Gilfach Wen.
The Black Lion, Abergorlech Tel: 01558 685271
Guests at Gilfach Wen Barn will pass this public house on the way from the north. While a useful 'watering hole' for the first of the mountain bike trails and those exploring the western side of the forest, this pub is not within walking distance of Gilfach Wen. This pub is wheelchair friendly.

Transport
The local minibus based taxi service is at Felingym-Uchaf. Advance bookings are recommended as they are usually very busy and are widely used by local community groups. 01267 290269
